Subhajit Mukherjee, ‘The ‘Environment Crusader’ is credited with driving the mass movement of ‘Tree Plantation’ in and around Mumbai. By planting over 63,000 trees, he has amplified the green cover of Mumbai, which has earned him the title of ‘The Green Man.’ He is on a mission to address all those issues which are crucial for retaining the natural resources of planet Earth and tree plantation is one of these.

He envisions inspiring every individual to grow his oxygen by planting a tree today. He expresses, without planting trees an individual does not have the right to breathe.

‘Rainwater Harvesting’

Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Subhajit has also done pioneering innovations in the field of ‘Rainwater Harvesting’ which has been executed in many housing societies and educational institutions. He is closely associated with Jal Shakti Abhiyan of Government of India, Ministry of Jal Shakti.  
There are more feathers in his cap like his involvement with Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan besides his association with Van Mahotsav, Beach Clean-Up, Farmer’s Livelihood Project and Fruit seed collection Drives.
All these initiatives have successfully created the impact through his mission, which he has been envisioning.

His involvement with Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan

A former HR professional, Subhajit opted to pursue his passion of working for the cause of the environment. His persistence, commitment and patience brought his goal closer – to enhance the sustainability of the planet Earth.

As founder of the Mission Green Mumbai, he is driving the Citizen’s Movement for #ClimateAction with 2000 + volunteers focused on three major areas: Protection & Nurturing of Existing Trees, Plantation of New Native Trees in a scientific manner and awareness Initiatives on Innovations on nature conservation.

Recognised for his exemplary efforts, he has been bestowed with many prestigious awards and recent one being the Mother Teresa Memorial Award presented by Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra.

Innovated, Designed and Developed one of the most economical Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) Percolation Barrel to #Catchtherain along with Grey Water Management post-monsoon. This has witnessed 10,000 installations nationwide. Thus, efficiently addressed the issue of proper Rain Water management, thus leading to substantial water saving.

Initiative to provide free site inspection for harvesting through video calls and Online training materials to #Catchtherain. Till now over 700 inspections have been conducted under the initiative.




To address the flood situation in Mumbai, 160 webinars were conducted under Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan for Educational Institutions and Corporates in association with the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change, Government of India.



Our ‘Train-the-Trainer’ initiative made ‘Water Conservation’ a national movement. Our gratitude to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for supporting water conservation awareness across India by way of involving 400 Municipal Corporations across India.

Work-in-Progress for the biggest Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) project of installing 6000+ groundwater recharge systems, by percolating rainwater to control flooding in Mumbai Civic gardens. The project is commissioned in association with MCGM Mumbai and CSR Support by Corporates.

With employment generation being one of our agendas, we are conducting skill development programs for young Civil Engineers by associating with Engineering colleges. This would generate employment in the field of water harvesting in urban settlements. We are appreciative of participation by ITIs all over India.
